The hostels city/waterfront location is 13 minutes walk to the center of town, on the waterfront and close to the beach. The best of all worlds, arrive in town, call us then relax as we come to pick you up.
The recently restored historic 130 year old Customhouse is spacious with a full kitchen including ovens and all other appliances.
Surrounded by waterfront either jump off the wharf into the sea next door or walk along the waterfront to the beach for the day. Close by are cafes, fresh fish shops and Nelsons best (award winning) fish/chip shop is next door, We are at a main pick up and drop off point for many chosen activities including the Abel Tasman National Park. We also offer a booking service, indoor and outdoor relaxation areas as well as all the activities and sights the Nelson/Tasman area has to offer. We look forward to seeing you soon.

The Custom House is okay but nothing special. The owner is very nice. But the hostel itself is far from the city centre and not very beautiful. I've seen better hostels in my life.

The atmosphere in this hostel is second to none. It hasn’t necessarily got the best beds or the largest kitchen, and it’s by a busy road. But there’s a genuine community of backpackers who took me in and welcomed me immediately, and the host Marcus is a top bloke who is always around and happy to help you out with anything. While I’ve been staying he’s even been helping out people with mechanical issues with their cars and lending his tools and experience. If you’re coming to Nelson with no connections like
