It’s a great hotel. Rooms are little tiny, and just a heads up: if it’s raining the rooftop/pool bar is closed (pretty much the reason we booked it) but I took my buddy who has a deep seeded hatred for anything “hippy” related (hostels included) and he loved it. Now he’s sold on hostels. I’ve stayed in dozens of hostels all around he world and this is one of (if not, the best) one I’ve stayed in the USA.

This isn’t really a typical hostel. It’s a shared room in a hotel. There’s a lounge on the first floor, but it’s not a great place to meet people. The rooftop was closed because of rain. The front desk staff were not rude, but they certainly weren’t very warm or friendly. You’re in the heart of downtown LA, so it’s a good location for being very central, but bad in that LA has possibly the worst houselessness crisis in the country.
Rooms are very clean. Bunk beds are sturdy and quiet.

This is a hotel/hostel so they don’t really have areas where you can meet other solo travelers. There’s a gym and kitchen/dining area in the basement for all hotel/hostel guests but they are tiny and don’t encourage mingling. They also didn’t have any cutlery which came as a surprise to me. But otherwise, it was a good stay. Bathrooms were clean and beds are comfortable. Found 2 small cockroaches in the room but housekeeping took care of it.
