Awful Hotel I stayed here 1 night, barely 12 hours… I moved my train time earlier so I could get out of there as soon as possible. Aside from poor room maintenance and dismissive guys at reception, I got locked INSIDE my room for 45+ minutes. The door is designed to lock from the inside by turning the lock and unlock by just turning the handle. I locked the door as soon as I stepped in my room, to settle and relax after a long train ride. I had called reception to receive wifi password, but when I did the reception guy told me I needed to go downstairs in order to receive it. When I tried opening my door to down downstairs for the wifi password, it wouldn’t open. I tried multiple times before calling the reception again asking for help… the reception guy could not understand me and kept hanging up after saying “no english, sorry”. I then resorted to hitting the lock with different objects found in the room, banging on the door, banging on the walls, screaming for help, but no one came. I must have called down to reception more than 14 times- and no one would answer or the guy would answer and then immediately hang up. Finally, after becoming very panicked, I called again and just screamed “help!” repeatedly. The guy from reception came upstairs and spent the next 15+ minutes trying to open the door with a hammer or maybe it was a screw driver… nothing worked. Eventually, after a few more minutes of waiting, panicking, and sweating from the poorly ventilated room and stress, we managed to open the door. Once the door opened, I could see where the man had been hitting the door, there was chipped wood all on the floor. The relief on my face was evident, my sweat and tears continue to drip down my face and the guy immediately told me I would be switched to another room after laughing at the situation. I understand it may not be a normal occurrence at this hotel, but for me, a woman traveling solo, I was terrified. I didn’t understand what was funny during this situation. The next morning at checkout I was still expected to pay the full price of €95.30. No one seemed apologetic, no one seemed to care actually about what happened the night before. I explained to the guy at the front desk, (a different guy from the night before who had helped me open the door), I did not think it was fair for me to pay full price after what had occurred. The guy then lied to me and said they had fixed the door and because everything was fine and fixed, I was to pay full. The door was not fine nor fixed. When I had gotten on the elevator, I could see the room. The door was still wide open, wood was still on the floor from when the guy had hit it several times, and it was not in use. This front desk guy kept telling me to pay and go. “Please pay and Ciao” is what he said repeatedly. I finally got tired of trying to explain my thoughts, I paid in full and left. I will never again return to this hotel and advice others to stay away as well. I would feel completely different about the situation if the staff where more empathetic and understanding but they were not. I’m very disappointed with this experience and will continue to tell others about my time at Hotel Giappone Inn.

Good location and good breakfast! I was assigned an outdated and very smelly smokers room. Had to sleep with windows open because of the bad smell. Rude and arrogant staff (old guy) who was very unwilling to answer simple questions in a polite and helpfull way. Felt like I was a disturbance rather than a welcomed client 😡 This guy should be in the back office, not at the front desk !
